There was a fancy cocktail party event at the school, so I wore my new favorite Fancy Outfit To Wear At Fancy Gatherings. The necklace is a replica of one found in Tutankhamun’s tomb and the earrings are vaguely art-deco, so that matches the Egyptian theme to my thesis project! The rest of the outfit is pretty Grecian-inspired instead, but hey, there was a Hellenistic period in Egypt too so it still works.

Drawn referencing fashions posted by omgthatdress, some of the Valentina dresses posted today have a distinctly Classical flair to them. They all seem to have been designed with skinnier gals than Mama in mind, but that just adds to the challenge!
Some mycenaean!babu!mamagreeces I drew for some icons. Sorry the seams in the paper texture are so blatant, since they were gonna be small icons I didn’t have to worry about where they were.
It was really fun researching Mycenaean clothing for these! Man, Mycenaeans, your clothes make no sense, though…
Suddenly it seems like all I can draw is genderbent Harry Potter…
Since my first attempt, Harriet and Herman have evolved into much better designs, Harriet getting a more unique hairstyle than Harry’s-Hair-Just-Longer-I-Guess (though I’ve decided that she didn’t start wearing the ponytail until after first year) and Herman looking more mature. But I think I’m satisfied with Veronica the way she is. (Which is ironic, since I can never quite pinpoint my mental image of Ron…)
I recently reread Sorcerer’s Stone for some light reading. Ahh, the nostalgia! Good ole first-year days…

Third is the progress I made just tonight, tracing some templates for the papercutting stage! IT’S SO CLOSE, WHEE!
Fish gotta swim, harpies gotta eat everything in sight. (and yes, harpies were once humanoid monsters, check it out!)

To bring new followers (hi guys!) up to speed, when not making silly Valentines I’ve been busy making a book about ancient Egypt for my thesis project. These are the thumbnail sheets I mocked up to show my progress in class. It’s okay if you can’t read them, I’m kind of the only one who can anyway, haha… plus the text is subject to refinement, of course. The actual size of each square is about… 2x2 inches, it’s actually about how big I drew them, too. (zee is crazy, news at 11) These weren’t sketches to get everything perfect, they were just to work out the content on each page. Now I need to actually start the full-size sketches…
