Full spread of a few pages from my Picture Book class project, TOO HOT in Vaudeville, Maine.

The blond kid who happens to not have a speaking part at the moment is Joe, Mercedes and Freddy’s friend.

I edited the left-hand page a bit since uploading it the first time last night, there were some colors that needed darkening.

Zoomed in portions of a papercrafted notepaper I designed for a project in science class. Yes, art school has science class, too! Not posting the full version, I’m sure you won’t miss a long blank stretch of cream-colored paper, haha.

The shells belong to the Rough Periwinkle, one of the smaller species found on the rocky beaches around here.

I can’t believe I forgot to show you all the redesign I made on this card, but today I got a copy of the final print so now is as good a time as any!

This summer my boss at the shop I work in approached me to design the company Christmas card. The shop sells fancy high class stuff from jewelery to dishes to linens, and I focused on the very pretty fine china, designing a plate with a chickadee to invoke a Maine feel along with the classiness the store prides itself on. Later on it was decided that the blue background was too dominant, there weren’t enough “christmassy” colors to really hold the design up. So I added in a nice napkin and some silverware loosely based on some of the colored-handle pieces the shop sells. It was just what was needed, and the cards are now printed up! Bloop, right into the portfolio, yeeeeah~

Incidentally, I actually got a lot of the papers I used from scraps and throwaways culled from my job at the shop! I work in shipping and receiving and have picked up the neatest papers in my time working there.

Sometimes when I’m feeling bored or I’m procrastinating hard, I snag some colourlovers palettes and make up some lolita dresses. These ones are vaguely based off of my home state of Maine. Vaguely.

I know some of the colors are unorthodox and there aren’t many patterns… I’m not a dedicated lolita myself and I like solids more than cluttered prints. (Not to say they’re a bad thing, just my preference!)

It’s kinda sad that I’m more proud of the bowl of melted butter, though.

And then sometimes we paint blueberries. My mom needs a bunch of fabric design concepts outta me by Wednesday aha ahaha ahahahaha

Don’t worry, I’ll papercraft chibies after I draw some lobsters for her.

Second product design for class. Rude puffins was the subject of another comic last semester. They look so cute, but who knows what kinds of horrible things they’re saying! In adorable Maine accents, no less!

Drawn in Flash.

Finished product design for Digital Illustration. Last semester I wrote a comic starring some rude yet gentlemanly seagulls. Ever since then I laugh at seagulls, I can’t see them as anything but smarmy false-polite Englishmen. So I decided to play with the old heraldic-ish bird with scroll and my gentleman seagull for this design.

Drawn in Flash, I’m really loving this program for its molding capabilities.
