SORRY SORRY REDO THE FIRST TIME WASN’T WORKING SO I DELETED IT
It’s the Muses! I’m going to be putting this along one edge of my graduation cap. ‘u’ I had to chop it into two pieces so you could see them at a better resolution. You can see them in an unbroken line here.
THE BOOKS CAME FROM LULU TODAY
THEY LOOK SO NICE
I’M SO PLEASED WITH THEM
eeeeeeeeeeeeeee
The final chapter of my thesis project, following Menna the scribe. Menna’s secretly my favorite, shhhh don’t tell Hechnekhu or Unas
For the page showing how to fold a scroll I attempted to papercraft them like usual… and eventually gave up, so each of those are basically Barbie-sized folded scrolls of papyrus, haha.
Now I have to insert the text and the non-illustrated pages. So close yet so far…
Finally finished the latest chapter of Seshtah! There are fewer pages than in the last chapter-post because that one had the cover and an expository page added.
This chapter follows Hechnekhu, an artist in the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. In return for his services he lives with his family in the secret walled village now called Deir el Medina. Though when you’re a cat whose name literally means “secret” nothing’s too secret to find out about!
This chapter has two of my favorite pages so far, the first and the second-to-last.
A remake of an old old old drawing of mine. Because I had pear slices for a snack this evening. Ahhh, I missed drawing these guys! Takashi, Machi, and Claudette from an old story of mine, Mahou Shounen.
We were supposed to whip up two coloring pages for class tomorrow morning and I spent too long on this so I just have the one. OOPS…. The teacher has made disparaging remarks about manga twice so far, too, can’t wait to see her reaction to the most aggressively kawaii thing I’ve drawn all semester.
Little self-portrait cameo in papyrus. I’ll need an author picture for the book, plus I thought I could use a new avatar/business card picture.
The problem with papercrafting using papyrus is that THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WHEN PAPERCRAFTING USING PAPYRUS… but when it works, it works.
The cover to my thesis project book is done! Well, mostly done, I may need to go in and add some details here and there.
Art nouveau/deco card about ancient egypt! I did a sketch for a greece one as well but I may not do it just for the sake of saving time for my thesis.
We’ve been working in flat colors in class and I was like ooh maybe I’ll do a papercraft! I know I’ll make it TINY that means it will be less work!! Aaaand it still took two class periods, AH WELL.
And it really is tiny, the card is 1.75 by 5 inches! The original sketch was like 3.5 inches tall hahaha so I (very wisely) made it bigger with a photocopier before I started cutting.
Last piece of schoolwork worth scanning, I’m done with the spam, haha!
In class today I had to make an illustration incorporating a specific set of objects, so I painted this little scene. When I say little I mean LITTLE, I think the girl with the inner tube would fit on my thumbnail if she dropped the beach umbrella. I don’t really know why it ended up so small, it’s just how I sketched it… It was a good exercise in focusing on backgrounds rather than characters! I actually spent most of the class period on the scenery, so the figures and some shadows were kind of rushed when I finally got to them. I was also experimenting with underpainting, I put a layer of yellow-green down first in an attempt to get the bright sunlight of a summer day.
Based a little bit on the parking lot at one of the lake beaches back home, though I didn’t specifically reference any particular spot.
