zee tee art
On the same theme as this previous post, referencing ancient Egyptian art and attempting to make the forms a little more naturalistic. This time I chose an ivory carving of Tutankhamun and his queen Ankhesenamun. They proved a little difficult to “naturalize,” there are so many oddities about their poses in this piece, but I did my best!
I’m guilty of ragging on ol Tutankhamun, I call him King Buzzword when a show or book mentions him for no reason other than PEOPLE KNOW THIS PHARAOH, WE SHOULD MENTION HIM. But I don’t hate him, it is physically impossible to hate this guy! He had a club foot, so he collected canes and walking sticks! He had a box of carefully folded underwear in his tomb! He was sporty and liked riding his chariot! Every scene with his wife is just so CUTE and their relationship was so TRAGIC (they had two miscarried pregnancies but no live children, and when tutankamun died poor ankhesenamun was so scared and alone and tried to beg for the Hittite king to send a prince to share the throne with her but he was assassinated along the way so she had to marry her ambitious grandfather Ay and BAWW ANKHESENAMUNNN ;A;) aaaaa babies ;o;
Yes, other people call the characters in their favorite shows “babies” and I call long-dead egyptian royalty “babies.” oops zee is a nerd
